Main /
ℛ Rotary - Rotary Indexing
This screen is used to index any rotary axis:
- Main spindle (Sp0)
- Rosette phaser/multiplier (Sp1)
- B axis
This menu screen was designed for making repeatable moves easier.
Fields & Buttons
Selection of Spindle(s) to Index
| If this button is selected, then the main spindle is indexed. | |
|
| ||
| If this button is selected, then the Rosette phaser/multiplier is indexed. | |
Either or both can be selected if desired. If none is selected, the operational movement buttons will do nothing.
Distance to Index
| The number represents the distance measurement.
|
Notes:
- The distance the axis is moved reflects the settings for the axis in the configuration. For example, if it is set so that 4 revolutions of the linear slide moves it 1°, then each revolution will show 0.250° of movement. If your device should have this set to 3 revolutions per 1°, you will need to make a change to the SCALE and STEP_SCALE parameters in the respective axis file found in the directory.
- Each spindle and the B axis can have a different setting for these values.
- Directions for updating the Axis Configuration File.
Feed Rate
| The number represents the feed rate for the indexing movement (the speed). For the spindles, this is in rpm. | |
|
| ||
| For the the B axis, this is in °/min. | |
Run Operation
| This button directs the spindle to index in a forward (CCW) direction. Forward for the spindles is the same as on a traditional late. | |
|
| ||
| This button directs the spindle to index in a reverse (CW) direction. | |
Notes:
Count
The Count represents the number of indexing operations which have been executed.
- Each Fwd operation increases this number.
- Each Rev operation decreases this number (probably making it negative)
Additional Notes
If you wish to run the Sp0 and Sp1 in different directions (e.g., one CW and the other CCW), you will need to develop a Gcode macro to run. Possibly, there is one in the Gcode Library
